Youth of Tirbespiyê/Al-Qahtaniyah: It is important to convey the voice of youth to decision-making centers

Ezdina Organization dedicated its first dialogue session in the town of Tirbespiyê/Al-Qahtaniya to the category of youth and media professionals.

Ezdina held its fifteenth dialogue session on the work of the Constitutional Committee and the Geneva Conferences within its project "A Constitution That Protects Us" in North and East Syria, on June 10, 2021 at the Yazidi House in the city of Tarbespiyê, in the presence of young women and men including media professionals, and civil activists.

Yazidi activist Lava Sharo said that she, as a young woman from North and East Syria, benefited from the session and learned a lot of information about the constitutional committee that is currently working on drafting the constitution, which is one of the outputs of Geneva.

Sharo added that there is no real representation for them in the current constitutional committee, which can contribute to realizing their role in the future of Syria on the ground.

Sharo demanded that the outcomes of the session be communicated to those concerned to change the reality in Syria in order to reach a Syria in which the people enjoy all their rights and duties.

In turn, Kurdish language teacher Suleiman Haji, said that the dialogue session is a beautiful initiative of Ezdina Organization, as it is dedicated to Syrian youth to discuss the Syrian constitution, noting that it is the first time that such a session has been held in Syria to learn the views of young people on drafting the Syrian constitution.

Haji added that the constitutional committee, which was established in 2019, does not represent the components of Northeastern Syria, and that the personalities claiming to represent the Syrian people were all outside the country and did not know what the concerns of the people were, especially the concerns of the youth.

For his part, the civil activist Farhan Suleiman, explained that the initiative of the Ezdina, which aims to shed light on the Constitutional Committee in Geneva, is important to them.

Suleiman added that he does not see any signs of success for this committee because 35 percent of the population has been excluded from it.

On behalf of the youth of Northeastern Syria, Suleiman called on the guarantor countries of the Constitutional Committee to involve representatives of the residents of Northeastern Syria to reach a constitution that expresses the entire Syrian people.

In turn, the member of the Assyrian Democratic Organization, Orama Hanna, confirmed that the dialogue session organized by Ezdina was good, because it gathered many components to discuss the Syrian constitution, the Constitutional Committee and its role in representing the Syrians.

Hanna added that the session discussed the role of youth and the importance of conveying their voice to decision-making centers and activating their future role more on the ground and contributing to raising the level of the society.

Hanna explained that, as a Syriac-Assyrian girl, there are representatives for her in the Constitutional Committee, noting the importance of reaching results by those in charge of the committee, and the importance of having their voice heard strongly on the Syrian arena and for them to have a future role and contribution to the Syrian society.

Hanna demanded that the committee include all groups of Syrian society and all parties, no matter how different, noting that if all Syrians are not united at one table, they will not reach a result that satisfies all Syrians.

It is noteworthy that Ezdina launched a new project in Northeastern Syria, under the title "A Constitution That Protects Us", starting from February 23, 2021 for a period of three months.
