
During the project, Ezdina worked on acquainting the local communities with what is happening in Geneva, and getting to know the opinions, proposals and recommendations of the local communities regarding the constitutional process, and their observations on the agenda of the Constitutional Committee in drafting the new Syrian constitution.
During the project, Ezdina held 18 dialogue sessions for different religious and national components, also for women, youth, media, human rights activists, politicians, civil society and clan leaders.
The dialogue session was divided into five sessions in the city of Qamishlo/Qamishli and the same in the city of Hasaka, and four sessions in the city of Amuda and the same in the city of Tirbespiyê/Al-Qahtaniya.
The first session within the project “A Constitution That Protects Us” was held on March 6 in the city of Qamishlo/Qamishli, in the presence of a group of media professionals and representatives of media institutions, while the eighteenth and last session was held on June 17 in the city of Tirbespiyê/Al-Qahtaniya, in the presence of civil society and clan leaders.
Participants:
The project "A Constitution That Protects Us", benefited 243 people directly who attended and participated in the dialogue sessions from four cities in North and East Syria, which are "Qamishlo/Qamishli, Hasaka, Amuda and Tirbespiyê/Al-Qahtaniya". Among them 128 were males, representing 53 percent, and 115 females, representing 47 percent.
The national backgrounds of the participants were distributed as: Arabs 16 percent, Kurds 71 percent, Syriac, Armenian and Chechen 13 percent.
While the religious backgrounds of the participants were distributed as: Muslims 77 percent, Yazidis 8 percent, Christians 14 percent, in addition to 1 percent of non-religious people.
Honor Guests:
About 15 politician, social and cultural personalities from inside and outside Syria participated in the dialogue sessions via the Zoom program, or by attending the sessions physically.
Media materials:
Ezdina has published 153 media materials on the dialogue sessions and activities accompanying the project "A Constitution That Protects Us" in both Arabic and English languages, in addition to dozens of media materials published by media organizations on the project.
It is noteworthy that Ezdina Organization launched its project under the title "A Constitution That Protects Us" in Northeastern Syria, starting from February 23, 2021 for a period of three months, but the procedures related to the COVID-19 lock down in the region led to a delay in holding the sessions for about a month.
