The director of the Ezdina Organization, Ali Isso, said that there are a number of drawbacks among the local communities in North and East Syria regarding the work of the Constitutional Committee in Geneva, including the absence of representatives of the Yazidi religion within the Constitutional Committee.
Isso's speech came during his participation in the program "In the Depth", which was broadcast on Radio Watan FM on April 16, 2021, under the title "A Constitution That Protects Us", a project of the Ezdina.
During his participation in the program, Isso explained that the project "A Constitution That Protects Us" is for three months and includes four geographical areas in North and East Syria and includes holding 18 dialogue sessions with various religious, national, youth and media groups and human rights activists.
Isso added that Ezdina is working to acquaint the local communities with what is going on in Geneva, and to identify the vision, proposals and recommendations of the local communities towards the constitutional process and their observations on the agenda of the Constitutional Committee in drafting or rewriting the constitution.
Isso pointed out that the Constitutional Committee has been working for years, but its nature and agendas were absent from local communities and from all components of Syrian society, pointing out that there are many objections to the work of the Constitutional Committee.
The Director of Ezdina Organization explained that Ezdina works through dialogue sessions to identify the vision and aspirations of the Syrian society about the extent to which the Constitutional Committee represents the aspirations of the Syrian people and the extent to which it listens to the vision of local communities, pointing out that the sessions aim to identify those aspirations and come up with recommendations from each session in order to deliver them to the Committee.
