Rezan Ismail: Geneva conferences contributed to Turkey's occupation of Afrin

A member of the Syrian Kurdish Journalists Network, Rezan Ismail, said that the situation in Syria deteriorated for the worse after all these years and all the meetings, seminars and conferences that took place on Syria in "Geneva, Sochi and Astana".

Ismail's speech came during his participation in the seventh dialogue session organized by Ezdina within its project "A Constitution That Protects Us", on Sunday April 4, 2021, in the city of Hasaka, with the participation of a group of media professionals and representatives of media institution.

Ismail added that the regions of northeastern Syria, despite their distance from these activities that aimed to solve the Syrian crisis, adopted the Autonomous Administration system and proved its presence on the ground.

Ismail indicated that no one offered anything to the Syrian people, on the contrary, there was a phase of blood pumping in the regime’s army, where there was a Russian statement that the Syrian regime was in a downfall, but “Astana and Sochi” conferences contributed to the revival of the Syrian regime.

Ismail explained that the reason for the exclusion of the northeastern regions of Syria and the exclusion of the Kurdish political movement in Syria from these conferences is a veto for some regional countries.

The Kurdish journalist concluded his speech by saying that the Geneva conferences contributed to the occupation of Afrin by Turkey and its affiliated factions, wondering why there is no US political move towards Syria, and why its movements are limited to the military side only.
