Journalist, Noveen Ibrahim, said that the dialogue sessions organized by Ezdina Organization, contribute to informe the Syrian society about the nature of the Geneva meetings and the meetings of the Constitutional Committee and their outcomes.
Ibrahim’s speech came during her participation via the “Zoom” Program in the eighth dialogue session held by Ezdina Organization within its project “A Constitution That Protects Us”, on Wednesday, April 4, 2021, with the participation of a group of young women, men from the city of Amuda.
Ibrahim explained that the Constitutional Committee has proven its failure to reach understandings or facilitate the political process in Syria in order to end the state of conflict in the country.
Ibrahim added that the Constitutional Committee does not represent all components, as the regions of Northeastern Syria is excluded, and minorities were deprived of their right to participate in self-determination, like the Kurds.
Ibrahim pointed out that the Geneva conferences are no longer important, because the two sides are procrastinating in reaching a solution, and the international community has proven its inability to pressure the two sides to end the Syrian war and implement UN Resolution 2254.
Ibrahim pointed out that the Syrian regime is the main obstacle in reaching a political solution, noting that the solution is through dialogue, not militarization, and the major powers are the main players in the Syrian war, because each of them has its own interests, agendas, and that all of this is at the expense of the Syrian people.
Ibrahim added that countries such as Russia and Iran must withdraw their forces from Syria so that the Syrians can determine their own destiny and build a new Syria for all Syrians.
Noveen Ibrahim concluded her speech by saying that the solution is to involve all representatives and components of the Syrian people in serious talks regarding the Syrian constitution with international sponsorship, to preserve the rights of ethnic and religious minorities that represent the spectra and colors of the Syrian people.
