The journalist at Khabour Radio, Imad Khalaf, said that the dialogue session is considered a positive one, because it opens the way for them to express their views, as the launch of revolutions in the Middle East, the Arab world and neighboring countries and their success in Tunisia and then in Egypt encouraged Syrians to revolute, but it was the only revolution that did not propose an alternative project, as the revolution demanded to change the head of the regime without proposing an alternative.
Khalaf’s speech came during his participation in the seventh dialogue session organized by Ezdina as part of its project "A Constitution That Protects Us", on Sunday April 4, 2021, in the city of Hasaka, with the participation of a group of media professionals, representatives of media institutions and photojournalists.
Khalaf added that the idea of decentralization has been proposed in the regions of northeastern Syria, but the rest of the Syrian regions still have the same mentality of the regime.
Khalaf added that the Syrian revolution began correctly, but it was exploited through external intervention that did not come from a vacuum, as the regime asked Iran and Russia to intervene, pointing out that the interests of Russia met with the interests of the Syrian regime, as well. Turkey's interests coincided with the Syrian opposition.
Khalaf added that the areas of northeastern Syria, which cover a third of the area of Syria and are inhabited by about five million Syrians, are being ignored even though they were able to eliminate ISIS, which was a global threat, indicating that the issue is being highlighted, but there is a deliberate disregard for their role.
Khalaf pointed out that countries deal on the basis of their interests away from humanity, wondering about what the "Geneva" conferences, such as "Sochi and Astana", presented to the Syrian people, pointing out that the great powers or actors in the Syrian crisis want to impose a solution that no one can stand in the face of that solution.
Khalaf pointed out that one of Astana's outputs is the entry of humanitarian aid, but this aid does not reach the regions of northeastern Syria, but rather closes the crossings, adding that what happened in Astana is buying time in favor of the regime only.
The Syrian journalist concluded his speech by saying that Security Council Resolution 2254 specifies periods of 18 months or 6 months, but the months pass and the people's economic suffering increases, pointing out that the issue needs a serious intervene by countries and by the Syrian people themselves to find a solution to the Syrian crisis that extended to ten years of destruction and displacement.
