
In cooperation with the US State Department, Ezdina Organization launched dialogue sessions in the city of Qamishlo, which began with a group of journalists working for media outlets in northeastern Syria, with the aim of submitting recommendations to the Constitutional Committee in Geneva to guarantee the rights of all components of the Syrian people. The session slogan "A Constitution That Protects Us", a name given by the organization to a new project that aims to inform local communities about what is going on within the United Nations paper regarding negotiations for Syria.
For its part, the administration at Ezdina clarified that the project “A Constitution That Protects Us” consists of eighteen dialogue sessions that will be held over a period of three months in the cities of North and East Syria, and will target five groups consisting of media professionals, clerics, community leaders, women and youth, Mrs. Maria Hanna who represented the Soroya Foundation participated the session.
At the conclusion of the dialogue session, the participating journalists reached a set of recommendations to be taken to the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva by the US State Department, the most important of which is the need to recognize Syria as a pluralistic, secular state that guarantees political, cultural and religious rights for all components and to ensure the participation of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria in the Constitutional Committee and guarantee women's rights, as well as freedom of the press, and not to limit the presidency to a specific nationality, gender, or religion.
In the same context, the Berçav organization held a dialogue session in the city of Kobani, yesterday, Saturday, in the presence of representatives of political parties, civil society organizations, women's and human rights organizations and independents, as part of a series of seminars held by the organization to discuss the Syrian constitution. The organization has also organized similar sessions in the cities of Dêrik and Rimelan, and will work to organize similar sessions in the city of Manbij.
