The Yazidi activist Hadiya Shamo said that the session organized by the Ezdina, allowed them to express their views on the constitution of Syria, noting that after ten years of war and devastation that everyone lived through, women had the largest share of pain and suffering, migration and displacement as a result of the destruction of her home and the dispersal of her family.
Shamo’s talk came during her participation in the fifth dialogue session held by Ezdina Organization, last Thursday, in the city of Qamishlo/Qamishli within the project "A Constitution That Protects Us", in the presence of political leaders and representatives of political parties in the North and East of Syria.
Shamo explained that the Constitutional Committee was formed under the supervision of several countries, namely "Turkey, Russia and Iran", and the three countries have allied themselves since the beginning of the Syrian crisis to impede reaching a political solution in Syria because of their common interests, and one of the results of the agreement between the three countries was the division of Syrian soil and Turkey's occupation of Afrin, Serê Kaniyê/Ras al-Ain and Girê Spî/Tal Abyad.
Shamo added that the representation of all components within the constitution must be taken into account and the guarantee of women's rights in all fields, especially their participation in political work, pointing out that the Autonomous Administration has preserved women's rights to a large extent.
Shamo indicated that the constitution of Syria should be pluralistic, preserving the rights of all components and minorities, such as the Yazidis, that a fair constitution should achieve equality between components and minorities.
The Yazidi activist concluded by saying that a common vision must be reached to preserve the right of all political and civil parties by establishing a pluralistic Syria that recognizes the rights of all religions and nationalities and preserves their customs and traditions by recognizing all languages and cultures.
