The secretary of the Free Kurdistan Yekiti Party, Abdul Samad Khalaf Biro, said that the Syrian Constitutional Committee was formed by the United Nations and the sponsoring countries who chose its members, and the representation of the Kurds in it should be reconsidered, because the percentage of Kurdish representation is not equal to the percentage of their presence in Syria.
Biro’s speech came during his participation in the fifth dialogue session held by the Ezdina Organization, last Thursday, in the city of Qamishlo/Qamishli within the project "A Constitution That Protects Us", in the presence of political leaders and representatives of political parties in the northeastern Syria.
Biro explained that the formation of the constitutional committee should be reconsidered on issues related to the region's religious, social and political components.
Biro added that all the drafts that have been put forward so far in the so-called constitutional principles during the nine Geneva conferences through the Riyadh conference are in the general framework, where they talk about cultural and political diversity, rule of law and independence These are general matters, pointing out that speaking in a general context is an evasion of basic issues in general principles.
The Kurdish politician emphasized that the diversity of the Syrian identity and national pluralism must be recognized, which is considered absent so far in the drafts presented during the conferences held so far.
Biro noted that after cultural and political diversity is acknowledged, the plurality of nationalities must be recognized; It is a fundamental principle in the constitution, pointing to the massacres that occurred during the ten years that led to the transformation of the conflict into a form of sectarian conflict.
Biro said that the form of the Syrian state must be presented in the basic principles, adding that the vast majority of the political and military forces in the field practice division, and that the Kurds alone call for federalism or voluntary federation, because the term decentralization in its general framework is ambiguous.
The secretary of the Free Kurdistan Yekiti Party concluded his speech by saying that the representation and formation of the Constitutional Committee must be reconsidered, and the constitution must take into account all components, in order to reach a permanent political solution that protects the rights of all.
