A dialogue session for representatives of religious and national minorities in Qamishlo

Ezdina Organization held its fourth dialogue session within the project "A Constitution That Protects Us", in coordination with the Zamin Organization and in the presence of representatives of minorities, religious and national components in the region.

The dialogue session, which lasted more than three hours, dealt with several axes related to the work of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, its establishment, the nine Geneva conferences and their results, the course of the political process in Syria, and the UN resolutions related to the situation in Syria.

The researcher Cheleng Omar said in his speech via the "Zoom" program, that national, religious and cultural diversity must be defined and taken into account in any future Syrian constitution, because ignoring this diversity or jumping over it will reproduce the crisis and conflict later.

The head of the Organization of Threatened Peoples in Germany, Dr. Kamal Sido, also participated in the session, via "Zoom," and talked about the importance of federalism and pluralism in constitutions, and listed the German experience to benefit from it.

The representative of the Syrian Democratic Council in the United States of America, Sinam Mohammad, said in a written message to the participants of the session that the Syrian reality as a multicultural, multinational and religious state, needs serious solutions to preserve Syria’s geographic unity and safeguard it from disintegration and fragmentation.

In turn, the session facilitator, Lawyer Omar Ali, talked about the establishment and composition of the Constitutional Committee and how to put in place mechanisms to protect the rights of minorities in all respects, in order to ensure the representation of minorities in the Constitutional Committee.

Ezdina Organization held three sessions within its project "A Constitution That Protects Us". The first session was devoted to media professionals, while the second session targeted the youth group, while the third session was for women.

It is noteworthy that Ezdina Organization launched its new project, in northeastern Syria, under the title "A Constitution That Protects Us", started on February 23, 2021, for a period of three months.
